  • NOTE: Using urinary cotinine as the gold standard, self-reported smoking status had sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 95% (κ = 0.96, P < 0.001, 95% confidence interval = 0.88-1.00). Assuming smoking prevalence in the lung cancer screening population was represented in this sample, the positive predictive value of self-report was 97%, and the negative predictive value was 100%.
