  • NOTE: Using urinary cotinine as the gold standard, self-reported smoking status had sensitivity of 91% and specificity of 95% (κ = 0.85, P < 0.001, 95% confidence interval = 0.71-0.99). Assuming smoking prevalence in the lung cancer screening population was represented in this sample, the positive predictive value of self-report was 97%, and the negative predictive value was 87%.
